"Our first time incubating eggs and we guessed we may hatch 3 out of 12. They arrived in the post packaged well and after candling them on the 15th day we disregarded 3 eggs only. We stuck to the rules of our Corti incubator and contacted Steve whenever we had an unanswered question. On the 20th day the P/L Bantams hatched first, followed by the Marans and on the 21st day the Buff laced hens arrived 9 out of 12 eggs hatched and are all beautiful healthy chicks. "I'm a bit late. I think it was last spring when we bought our first ever birds from Steve. A silver and buff laced Wyandotte and a POL Lohmann. The little Lohmann is amazing and so friendly - she started laying within 10 days and has laid an egg a day ever since throughout winter! The silver laced is the 'Grand Dame' admired by the neighbours as she struts around the garden. The only down side is that my urban kitchen garden has turned into their extended digging and feeding patch and they have an eye on burgling my greenhouse too! However, I'm hooked, so we are planning a move to Cornwall and looking for an acre or two, hopefully buying more from Steve's excellent stock when we do. Very impressed by visiting the farm and seeing the layout and conditions the birds are bred in, chickens do need grass and they all have it. Good to see inspectors wandering around whilst we were there picking up our birds and they both looked as happy as we were. " Pete Higgins

"So very pleased with the service I have received and the quality off the hatching eggs. My eggs had to travel by van and were place under the drivers seat as it was the coolest place to keep them. The journey took 10 days as the driver had an unscheduled stop in Venice. When the eggs arrived, we were in the middle of a heat wave and the temperature was hitting 38 to 40 degrees every day for 2 weeks. The humidity was sky high. I still managed 5 live chicks from 12, so I am very happy, and all the eggs were fertile. Just hanging on for another few days to see if the rest hatch out. " Barbara Rainbird

"We bought half a dozen lucky-dip mixed eggs and received a C/B MARANS, 1 L.SUSSEX, 1 White WYANDOTTE, 2 G.L.WYANDOTTES, and a LOHMANN. They arrived promptly and safely. All six were hatched on the due date. Although the W.WYANDOTTE was born with splayed legs and later had to be disposed off, I have since heard of a method of tying the legs together that might have saved it. The MARANS was a cockerel and has been found a home elsewhere, the remaining four continue to do well and look healthy and good. I would not hesitate to use Cheshire Poultry again in the future." "The 6 eggs I collected about 4 weeks ago were great and hatched against all odds. First when I got home my broody had changed her mind and the eggs were not set until 1 week later when she finally committed. A disaster occurred on day 18 when she was accidently locked out of the broody box all day, probably for 4 or 5 hours and it was only 7 or 8 degrees outside. The eggs were completely cold. Anyway she resumed brooding and hatched 5/6 chicks from Cheshire Poultry, plus 2 of her own, exactly 1 day late. So Cheshire Poultry eggs are pretty tough. (The one that didn't hatch was fertile but not pipped, probably died at day 18.)" Jill Stocks

"I purchased two 6 week old!! lavendar araucanas back in June 2011. They are beautiful stunning birds. One was laying within a few months, beautiful blue eggs and the other took a little longer to mature and waited till spring. The birds look fantastic, lay beautiful eggs and have a lovely temperament. Steve did a fantastic job of sexing them at such a young age. I was very impressed when I went to collect the hens. They are well loved and looked after. The chickens have grassed runs and all looked an excellent standard - so tempted to get more! The hatching eggs also looked to be a great quality.
